I would like to say thank you to everyone who participated in the recent recording and jam session at Artomatic on Saturday night. The vibe in that room continues to amaze me, especially given the sets of recording challenges that are presented in an open environment. For example, we were rocking with the sound card plugged into the TV! Now THAT's hip hop; necessity yielding invention. However, the creativity of the Brown Monkey collective, coupled with an unbridled passion for hip hop allowed us to make some great music. The list of accomplishments in that room include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Arranging, Mixing, and Mastering of the Triple Staccs' mixtape "The Program"
- Creating the beat and recording the intro to the mixtape with Matin Salaam Bari and Nile Naomi (The Program Intro, Track 1)
- Creating the beat and recording "Which Way To Go" with Triple Staccs for the AUFBRAND mixtape "Kinfolk"
- Creating the beat and recording "Rocket" with Matin Salaam Bari for an untitled release
- Impromptu listening party for AUFBRAND material (Michael Jackson - Butterflies - AUFBRAND Remix, others)
- INCREDIBLE 2 hour freestyle and video session featuring Matin Salaam Bari, Mike D, Muyi, Delano Dutch, Jade Fox, Tony Christ, Nile Naomi, among others
- numerous additional activities
The craziest part about the evening is that all of the aforementioned activities occurred within a span of 5 HOURS. I was fortunate enough to be a part of it, and I can't wait to review the video from any of the handful of cameras that were in the room that night. Editors, get on your job!
Aside from Matin, Mike D, and Nile Naomi, it was probably my first time meeting the rest of you. If you were in the building and I didn't mention your name in this post, forgive me, as I am terrible with names. Nevertheless, I appreciated the love, hopefully I threw it back, and I look forward to rocking with y'all again.
JO - AUFBRAND
